Artist Statement

Inspired Canadian is an art installation that questions the relationship between art and commerce as well as explores the ability of an artwork to grow, evolve and influence despite existing outside of current social media. The original intent of this work was to create a jumping off point in bringing together a community of allies to First Nations people. Rooted in working toward reconciliation, the intention was then that the community itself would grow, allying itself with all marginalized groups irrespective of race or sexual orientation. Angelo wishes to create an oasis for people who appreciate that art is of equal importance to commerce and that community is best served without profit maximization or the pursuit of excessive individual or corporate wealth.

"We owe the Aboriginal peoples a debt that is four centuries old. It is their turn to become full partners in developing an even greater Canada. And the reconciliation required may be less a matter of legal texts than of attitudes of the heart."

- Romeo LeBlanc

"Through consciousness, our minds have the power to change our planet and ourselves. It is time we heed the wisdom of the ancient indigenous people and channel our consciousness and spirit to tend the garden and not destroy it."

- Bruce Lipton

"It's time to listen to the stories of the Indigenous; we are blessed as a country to look to the wisdom of a really old country."

- Gord Downie
